Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
I performed a search and was surprised to see that this question doesn't appear to have been asked-- anyone care to recommend a sleeve for their T60p? looks like I'll be taking this machine on the road more often, and it'd be good to have a snug, protective case.
Re: Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
This question has indeed been discussed earlier on, but regardless of that, you'll find both 14" and 15" sleeves for 4:3 (non-widescreen) as well as for 14.1" or 15.6" widescreen T6x/p's on eBay... just search for ThinkPad sleeve 15" (or search for 14" or 14W or 15W, the latter two for widescreen models).
Beware that many of the cheapo sleeves bought off eBay has a pronounced "chemical smell" (of Neoprene, I believe) which will take some time to dissapear. Some sleeves are however reported not to have this strong smell - but how to know in advance whether or not "it smells" I don't know?

Re: Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
thanks for the response Johan; funny, as I searched "sleeve" in the T6x forum and there weren't any results, but no matter; I'll check out eBay... interesting about the "chemical smell"; perhaps I'll look for one that isn't too far on the cheapo end...

<bump> 3 years later.... am now looking for a sleeve to fit a T60P. Where do I buy one in May 2015?
Re: Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
Which form factor? - 14.1", 15.0" or 15.4" Widescreen - A certain large auction site still may have a few - but most might be leaning towards widescreen models(?)
T60F: (Integrated Intel GPU) - [Another T60 FrankenPad!...Different approach]
R60F: (Integrated Intel GPU) - [ThinkPad R60 15.0" FrankenPad]
R60F: (Integrated Intel GPU) - [ThinkPad R60 15.0" FrankenPad]

+1 this is true.Johan wrote:many of the cheapo sleeves bought off eBay has a pronounced "chemical smell"
Did you need sleeve case (for storage or protect from scratches or drops) or complete briefcase (with handle / shoulder strap for transportation on foot)?JayNYC wrote:15" 4:3
I believe you can find sleeve case on ebay - with query from the second post in this thread. But you find case only for 15" wide (16:10) T60 - T500 model. I have checked that 15" 4:3 can be placed in this case but have some gap on one side. It is not a problem for storage purposes.
If you looking for briefcase - this can be problem.
A year ago i have such problem. Before i have good 15" 4:3 briefcase. I have bought it years ago for my first notebook (non ThinkPad but 15" SXGA+;) and it served me good job. Very rugged with steel frame and very compact (vertical) design... But morning sun never lasts a day - the zipper have completely broken
Criterion was simple:
+ 15" 4:3
+ black leather
+ cas compact as possible
- with reinforcement (when i've searched for it - my local forum members wrote - if i want more ruggedness from ThinkPad to search for such case i need ToughBook - but this is other story
+ with pocket for papers and pencils...
And i have found some - ThinkPad Executive Leather Case 4X40E77322. Yes this was designed for 14.1" wide thinkpads - but 15" T60 with standard (non extended) battery fits almost perfect. The lock is no perfect and if you put more paper - it become a problem to lock it. And the metal clip for shoulder strap have eaten some leather on cap.
Also i have oldscool leather briefcase (10K0209) from T4x era but it is so oldscool to get it to the office so it is get to my collection (but it is still in good shape;)

Re: Thinkpad T60p -- sleeve recommendations?
I'm very happy with my Case Logic PLS series case that I bought for my 14.1" standard T61 several years ago.
I zip my laptop into this case and then drop it into my Targus Thinkpad backpack and strap it in. The neprene adds padding and also helps to keep dust and dirt from getting on the screen and under the keys. I ultimately bought a second (smaller) sleeve for an X61 that I picked up a few months ago to use when travelling. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Here is a larger photo of it (warning, the image is over 1MB).
And this store (disclaimer: I never bought anything from them) claims to have it available:

Maybe mine is not 10K0209 - i'm not 100% sure. It is like that on your picture. But it have "IBM Thinkpad" logo printed on leather, not on dedicated sticker.PowerPC wrote:...
