How can I tell if 'Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache' is installed in a T61p without having to physically remove the casing? Can I check in device manager? What entry should I look for? Thanks.

check "intel management and security system" - open and check status
(my t61p did have 'driver issues' and since I roll-back to older version - it worked nicely)
I get super fast 'windowsx64' file tranfer eg between usb stick to HD et ...

side note:
I have my t61 loaded with 8gb rams and anything that Windowsx64 dont/cannt use - I use via "SUPER CACHE" apps. this acts like a 'SSD' except its 1000s times faster than ssd!

Hope this helps

cheers

Hey Mike...do you have some benchmarks to support that? Or did you mean "seems [feels like, etc.]" 1000 times faster?

You only need to take the palmrest and keyboard off, to see if you have TurboMem.

sorry not much into :benchmarking: ....its like "how much you want to spend to get fast speeds" - show me the money !and fast speeds is RELETIVE
in short , most 'good' usb2 thubmdrives tranfer around 2-15mb/sec....
and with Turbo-memory boot = I can doa round 50-80 ... and I dont tranfers of little files
most of then are 4gb or larger ,,,,,, thus the Thumbdrives = 8+gb ones!

ps ..... there are ;lots' of varibles and dependancies (sp)...when it comes to 'speeds'..
IMHO....to get MAX SPEEDS you need >winOS x64 + 4gb intelturbro memory + 1g+ breadyboost
Since MOST OF TIME I am in WIN7 Entx64; OSX or LINUX (most of these are loaded with 32GBram or close to it) and ,,,,no I dont care to do 'benchmarking ..... dont have spare time for play .....just know it works for me!

Hope this helps someone

cheers

juz noted comment was for "cache"

Oops ,, sorry dont have SSD on my laptops ; just know SUPERCACHE works like (in UNIX/LINUX)and like any 'cache' loaded into RAM - thus the faster bus speeds avalible to do tranfers!
