T60p ATI Vertical Stripes

Hello. I've recently found a T60p, on an Polish Ebay. It's all great but it has some vertical stripes. The seller says that it was an ATI graphic error and a blue screen and now it has some stripes.

Is this GPU fault? Or it's the matrix? Or it's just to repair the driver?
What's important - the gay say also that on Windows XP there is a blue screen when installing ATI driver. On Windows 7 there is almost no stripes, when he played the game there were no stripes.
Here's the link and the photos: http://allegro.pl/ibm-t60p-4-4ghz-3gbra ... 62271.html

And my second question. Does the Nvidia in T61p is so prone to failure as in T61? It's an another quaddro, but it's still the same family, so I'm afraid to buy T61/T61p and I'm looking for some T60p, but it's hard to find it with wide screen. And I see that ATI can be prone to failure too. I will see what You think;

I hope You'll help, thanks.

The symptoms point to it being a GPU failure. Stay away from that machine unless it is sold at a discount enough to offset the cost of a new motherboard.

Yes, the T61p GPU is just as prone to failure than the T61 GPU (maybe more so due to extra heat).

ATI GPUs in T60 series do fail (as you can see), but they are not inherently defective as the nVidia series-8 units, so most people would feel more comfortable buying one.

With that said, unless you specifically need video performance, an Intel GPU-equipped T60/T61 will be a better choice.

If you want a good machine, this is a good seller. I got my T60 from him, he is very quick and knows what he is selling.
