so, 965 chipset, 14" 4:3 screen with 1024x768 resolution... no fingerprint reader, no mem-card reader... I wanted a working horse and i think i got it... I just want to upgrade it a bit... So ive upgraded the RAM to 4GB (and with T7100 x64 win7 is working very nice), 500GB HDD is in there now and a 5 hour-long battery...

is there anything else you could recommend? im no stranger to mods so anything that might boost up this piece of equipment for a little money... SSD is out of the question (too pricey)... I would LOVE a screen with better resolution (it can be 4:3 or 16:9, it doesnt matter, as long as it has a better dpi's)... maybe replacing some HW inside, wlan cards, BT cards.... i have to do something about the rattling fan too... and get a docking staion....

This post might be a bit all over the place, but i hope you get my point/question...

In your case I would upgrade your hardware in this order:

1. 128GB SSD for $125
2. SXGA+ display (1400x1050) (widescreen won't fit)
3. T9300 or T9500 Penryn cpu

But probably your most interesting upgrade option is to 'FrankenPad' your T61 into a T60 chassis with 15" Flexview (IPS) display at 1400x1050 or 1600x1200 Search the forum on 'FrankenPad' to get more info about this.
