Buy used T61 with 140m?

Hi!
I'm being offered to buy a T61 at a fair price. However, since I've read about all the nVIDIA failures I'm a bit sceptic to it. It's build date is 07/12.
It does feel a bit stupid to buy a computer with such a common fault. On the other hand, it should've already died after four years of usage if it was affected by it.
What do you think, can I feel safe buying a T61 with the nVIDIA graphics or should I keep looking for one with the intel GPU (good resolution is kind of rare on these though...)?
There is of course the option to buy a T400, but I'd prefer a screen with over 900 vertical pixels.

That one sounds great, but I'm located in Sweden. It would be quite expensive to send it here and then it would be taxes. Also, I'd prefer a swedish keyboard.

If you *really* want a T61, get something from 08/08 or later. They do exist. I just sold a unit built in 08/10.
That being said, expect to pay a premium for these, unless you're buying it from someone who's clueless about the whole nVidia thing.
T500 and W500 would give you 1680x1050 or even 1920x1200 resolution, but are likely to cost more than a T61.

Aren't there any high resolution screens with the Intel GPU? I don't need any GPU power anyways, so that'd be perfect for me.
The T500 seems to be quite rare over here in sweden, the T400 however seems to be quite common and not too expensive. But then, I'd be locked to the 1440x900 display of course. I'm going to use this laptop for programming so that feels a bit too low. If I can't find any high resolution t61 with intel GPU I might have to settle with the T400 anyways.

Yes, there were some T61s with Intel boards and WSXGA+ (1680x1050) panels but they are fairly rare. There's also R61 with the same setup.
Happy hunting.

The Intel graphics isn't easy to find on a 15.4 unit with or without the better screen, but you can swap the screen easy enough, I even have a few screens if you're interested.

Is the 1400x1050 14" also that rare with intel GPU?
What would a new screen cost me, approximately? Is any of the two (1400x1050 and 1650x1050) screens more common/cheaper? That might be a good option if it's not too expensive.

Define "too expensive"...
Intel based units with 1400x1050 are pretty rare.
I happen to have one sitting on a shelf...throw me an offer that I can't refuse...

Well, under 100 bucks for the screen is about what I can afford, so I guess that would be hard to find.
It's not really an option to buy an american laptop unfortunately, since the Swedish keyboard is kind of hard to find.
There's a T400 for sale over here in a couple of days, if it doesn't get to expensive I might just settle with that one.

I could accommodate you, a nice 1680x1050 screen in the range of $50-100 depending on condition, ranging from nearly flawless to perfect.

That sounds great actually!
Any idea of what the shipping to europe might be? 30$?
I'll contact you if I find a suitable notebook.
