Battery issue with T61p

Hi
On AC power the laptop boots with the battery indicator blinking (yellow light). Doesn's start on battery.
Battery information shows 92% charged. Was fine before the following incident.
This morning my backpack containing the laptop was in the boot of a car for a 20 min city drive. Normally, It is kept on the seat/somebody's lap in case of space crunch. Got hit on the first rough ride and that is the roughest I treated it.
In any case, I am going to get a technician to look at it within next 3-4 days.
Please suggest action for the intermediate period. Things to check, etc.
Regards,
Chetan

look at the battery details in lenovo power manager. it'll tell you if the battery is bad and can no longer be charged. it'll also say the manufacturer and cycle count (number of charges). if it's a sanyo from before 2010, they are basically all bad, and if it has over 250-300 cycles then the battery may have stopped working from "normal wear". it is possible for this to happen completely randomly.

I have an R60e here with a BTI battery, that is in green, holds ca. 95% of the original load, and shows 21,347 cycles!
Admitted, it's not a Lenovo battery, but it does not cause any problems and is not flagged as a non-genuine battery.
Go figure!
