T61 charging circuit problem

Coffee was spilled on the table while my T61 was on it. Apparently it pooled around the base of the machine (no liquid on keyboard) and caused a shut-down.

According to the culprit (daughter number 2) , she immediately unplugged the power brick and lifted the unit off the table.

Waited 3 days , re-installed battery, and lo and behold, it booted normally.

However, the computer will not run on AC power, nor will it charge the battery.

I am hoping against hope that a tear down and thorough cleaning or possibly a DC power jack replacement will set things back in order.

Any additional hints/suggestions?

I'd be willing to bet on one or more fuses being blown along the pipe that controls the charging circuitry.

Good luck.

Thanks...Seems to be F2 fuse close to the DC power Jack.

Now to find a tutorial on "piggybacking"

No need for a tutorial.
Just get the replacement fuse (from the likes of mouser.com, digikey.com etc.), then solder that on top of the old one.
You probably need a soldering iron with a very fine tip.
Don't use a solder gun, like those black Weller monsters!
