T60 third WLAN antenna replacement

Hi,
As I am about to replace my wireless router I'm thinking about adding third antenna to my FrankenPad. Based on the HMM I need P/N 42R9910. As it is hard to find I have a quick question - will any wireless antenna (even not Lenovo-branded) fit? Especially that I don't want to remove the LCD bezel but would rather put it under the palmrest.
I know, I have to replace the WLAN card for a 3-antenna one. Is the Intel 5300 a good choice as its price is quite encouraging.
Thanks in advance :)

Unless you need/want MIMO, you only need 2 antenna wires for wifi-N.
Save yourself the expense and the hassle.
Hence the 2-wire Intel 5100N will do fine.

I'm also curious about this, my WLAN card supports 450 mbit with 3 antennas but currently I have 2 antennas connected.
Can I install any wireless antenna (even not Lenovo-branded) under the palmrest for 450 mbit support?

Yes, That seems to work well.

I don't know of any scientific way of testing how well the antenna works installed in palmrest area, but many have reported no problems at all. I could send you an antenna if you need one, or you could pull one from any lid assembly.

Good luck and make sure to share your experience with others in our forum.
