Okay, so as the story goes I spilled a bit of water into the keyboard on my T60p, after which I shut it off and removed power for 24 hours. It worked fine for a while but suddenly started acting like a bunch of keys were being pushed down. I took the keyboard out and ran it under the faucet a bit, assuming that something washed into some of the keys, and then let it dry for three days, but this didn't help. Can you guys think of anything else to do short of buying a new keyboard? Also, the machine acts perfectly fine without the keyboard (and in the dock for the power button.)

That happened to me like a month ago.
Let it dry Under the hot Texas sun for 2 days stright but it didn't help.
Sorry mate - you will need a new keyboard!

Bah, maybe I can find a cheap one with missing keys or something...

I'd rather the title of this thread be changed to indicate that the problem started with water spillage. Otherwise people searching the forum for help with general keyboard issues in the future may be stumbling upon this thread, which will be less than helpful.

Water won't hurt a keyboard, but the stuff that's in the water will, be it sticky junk residue from soda pop, or just the minerals in tap water. You may have success cleaning it with distilled water and/or steam, but I suggest you just buy a keyboard. Thinkpadlover has them, as do I. If you want something ultracheap, I can probably help you with that too. If your damaged keyboard was in exceptional condition (cosmetically), you can even transfer the keycaps onto an identical keyboard.

I think you should be grateful keyboards for these things are so cheap, many other laptops don't have such vast supply of used and nos parts available. One example, a few years back I got a Winbook SI in for repairs. It needed a new board which was impossible to find under $600, so I eventually took the dead laptop as payment for my efforts to repair. I figured I might get $50 of parts out of it if I was lucky, so I tore it down and listed all the parts on ebay. The keyboard (average condition) got into a bidding war and sold for $145... even a dvdrom drive sold close to $100. All together the parts got about $400, and I was hoping to get $50 lol

So in this case, you can have a good working keyboard for ~$10, a pretty one for ~$20, and a new one for ~$30, and your complaining?

I'm not so much complaining as I am cheap, plus being a high school student without much of an income, you try to save as much money as possible.

Anyway, I tried rinsing it out with rubbing alcohol as a last ditch effort and it still didn't help. The keycaps are pretty shiny, but I figure if I can find an NMB keyboard that's missing stuff I can just transfer the keycaps it's missing over. However, I'm pretty sure I will end up getting a keyboard from Thinkpad Lover, it just depends on if some other stuff works or not. Also, about the parts availability, I was amazed that I can find a new motherboard with the bottom case (and the FireGL graphics) for ~$20 on ebay. Nice!
