I'd like to keep my T61 as portable as possible. Since it already is fairly large compared to contemporary Netbooks I'd like to have an alternative to schlepping around a laptop shoulder strap bag at all time and still keep my T61 well protected.
If possible I'd like to be able to put the T61 in my regular backpack along with my other stuff I need for uni or just carry it around under my arm in some sort of protective, padded bag.
Is there an alternative to this: http://www.strapsandbelts.com/images/la ... -strap.jpg ?
Thanks
What's the slimmest bag solution to protect my T61?

Yes, search for a "14.1" laptop sleeve case" which is a slimmed down version of a carrying case and does not have the strap, carrying handle, wheels or legs. It's also not as well padded. Perfect for putting inside of a backpack. I wouldn't trust it on its own to offer enough protection from bumps or small tumbles, but inside a backpack it works well.
Another option is to get a backpack with a padded laptop compartment. Those work really well for a student. "Swiss Gear" makes some very nice ones. Depending on how much room you have in your backpack, you can still get a sleeve case so when you take your laptop out and it's sitting on a desk it still has some protection (especially from those other wild German university students LOL).

Thanks for the proper term. I did not know they were called "sleeve cases". Now I know what I need to look for. They seem to go from around 10$ to several hundred $.Thinkpad Lover wrote:Yes, search for a "14.1" laptop sleeve case" which is a slimmed down version of a carrying case and does not have the strap, carrying handle, wheels or legs.
