The motherboard still need to source, but essentially I think I have everything now.

I am positively green with envy, as it looks like all of your parts are brand new!

EDIT: Always handy to have the dual ExpressCard and PCMCIA Bays present in case you need to use the adapters later on down the line.

I see you have a modem there, are you aware it won't fit on the T61 board in the T60 frame?

I was toying with the idea of pulling the connector off a modem and attaching leads to it that could be soldered onto another modem, so I could relocate the modem away from the connector. I would try to do it if I ever actually used one, but the only thing I can think of ever using it for is if I had to send a fax.

I figured I'd just buy any other T6x stuff that I *may* possibly need form that particular supplier while I ordered other various bits, as the pricing for most of that grab bag of random parts was minimal - i think 30rmb or so total. If it doesn't fit, don't really care, and if i did need it easier than waiting a day or three for it.

With more cutting/welding I think I could get a modem mounted on one of these, and if I thought I'd ever use it I might do that, but I'm happy to leave it out. There is another article where someone made one of these from an R series, and it was able to use the modem.

I hear you also have access to Google too without incessant connection resets, and then there's that Facebook thing, and Twitter.

In case you didn't notice, I'm in China. Lots of stuff strangely doesn't work here, although the government here insists it has nothing to do with them at all.

So no, no Youtube. Its blocked here unless I route over a vpn, and secondly, I feel happier with text, purty picturez, and mild sarcasm

Welding would be required to reinforce the frame after you remove enough material to make room for the modem. That's why I was considering making an extension cable by cutting the connector off one modem, and soldering leads onto it so you can relocate the modem a few cm to the right. This would be easier then cutting and welding the frame, but since the frame already needs to bu cut up a bit, it wouldn't be a huge leap to do some more cutting and some reinforcing. Also wouldn't be a bad idea st strength other areas of the frame. By the way, if anyone here is really good at soldering, I'll donate a handful of modems if I can have one of he extension cables you make with them. My soldering skills aren't to bad, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be. I could do it, but would probably have a headache for a week afterwards lol
