SXGA+ screen dying on T60p 14"

Hi,

My screen seems to be dying: it displays a pattern (dotted lines) of bright pixels on the left part of it. See picture to get an idea of what it looks like on a black background.
I plugged in an external monitor which works fine.
I can make the pattern disappear momentarily by flexing the upper left corner of the screen cover.

I was wondering whether all this shows that it is very likely that the lcd panel is dying, or is there a possibility that it is something else?

According to your experience, what is the most probable cause of this pattern?

Thanks for your help. Image

Might be the LCD cable, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The panel itself is the most likely culprit.

Might be cable, I also have 14" T60p and I just ordered new LCD cable as my works only at very low angles now.

Try opening up display and see if there is any change if you move / press the cable. Try reseating LCD cable. Once I'm done with swap, I can maybe send you my old non-working LCD cable (it may not solve your problem but if your problem is different you will at least know what to order).

Before diagnosing this I was thinking of ebaying exact 14" T60p to swap out parts between them and see if it's LCD, motherboard or something else and then ordering part to fix 2nd notebook.

Hi,

I changed the cable and it did not help. I changed the screen and now it is fine.

Thanks for your input!
