Upgrade question

#1 Post by zenlunatic » Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:35 pm

Is the stock T60 without reader able to be upgraded/replaced with a new palmrest with reader? I assume all the controls go through the main ribbon, or is their another ribbon/something mainboard specific which prevents the upgrade?

Will a T60 H42 14.1" be able to replace a N21 14.1"?

I presume you mean card reader? Why not pick up a PC Card or an ExpressCard card reader. They should sit flush with the side of the T60.

No I meant fingerprint reader. I have a T60 w/out a fingerprint reader. The plamrest was cracked and I thought I might replace it. I was just wondering if the fingerprint reader was builtin to the touchpad ribbon or if there is some other cable that is motherboard-specific.

All T6x units support FPR. All you need is a proper palmrest.

What about transplanting a N21 motherboard inside a H42 case? They're both T60s.

Presuming that both of them are the same (4:3) format, yes, no problem.
