Several months ago I replaced my damaged SXGA screen with a new one that I picked up on eBay. After doing the swap and reassembling the lid I noticed that the new SXGA screen was slightly thicker than the old one. This made for a slightly less than perfect fit in the assembled housing. I took the unit apart a few weeks ago, hoping to find a misrouted antenna wire or something else to account for the difference in thickness but could not. The back of the screen is tight to the roll cage.

Has anyone else found this? Are there certain vendors or manufacturers that this has been (or is) a problem with? TIA for advice and insight.

What exact LCD (brand name, model name, IBM P/N or FRU if available) are you talking about?
If possible of both old AND new screens.

The one I pulled was likely a standard unit for a 14.1" non-wide T61. The part number on back of the bad board that I replaced was P/N 42T0432/FRU 42T0433. The manufacturer of the bad board was "Boehydis".

The new one was an "A+ NEW IBM LENOVO T61 42T0369 LCD SCREEN 14.1" SXGA+"
The brand was listed as "Br32259", the new one is installed in the laptop and the specific brand was not listed on the eBay webpage for this unit, (http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-NEW-IBM-LENOV ... 0116256332).

The seller had great feedback. The board is a near perfect fit.

Has anyone had the problem of a supposedly stock screen that is just slightly too thick? Thanks.

On principle I would not trust any eBayer (like this leonworks2010) who sells everything as "private listing".
(I also do not trust most other eBayers, but that's another story ).
I've never heard of a brand "Br32259" and it is also unknown in Google...
Was there no identification on the back of the new LCD?
The LCD is almost certainly a knock-off and not an original.
Next time, first take a look at our Market forum, before you buy.

Please ascertain that there are no antenna wires in the way of mounting the LCD.
These are very easily 'caught' between the lid and the metal hinge bars.
Or if you don't 'guide' the antenna wires correctly, the LCD bezel will not fit properly (which might be your problem).

Looks like "cheap clone" syndrome to me. Many of these generic screens aren't an exact match, but if you're happy with the quality and the fit is close enough, then I guess that's all that matters, but keep in mind that the original screens aren't made anymore, so if you want one you either need to get used, or NOS (new old stock), if you can find it. There are some sellers in China that claim to have genuine ones, but it's very likely they are factory seconds that have new labels attached.

ps. the last generic screen I looked at just didn't look as nice as a genuine screen that was 5 years old. The generic looked yellowish and the colors weren't as vibrant as the original.
