I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and the battery i just bought for it charges and the laptop can run on it or AC but the system does not see that the battery is installed. In the battery manager (xp or lenovo) it will see the battery briefly if i plug the battery in then says theres an error. If i try to do a reset of the battery it doesn't see the AC adapter plugged in. I don't know what to do to fix this

Welcome to the forum.
If this is an official Lenovo battery, get it replaced under warranty.
If it's a Chinese knock-off from eBay or the likes:
- send it back for a refund, with seller hopefully paying for return shipment
- you're pretty much on your own, with the added risk that the bad battery may damage your laptop's charging circuit

What is the exact error message?

See my post. When I installed latest version of Power Manager it refused to charge the battery. Non-Lenovo battery which has worked fine for months.
Unintalled Power Manager and it started charging.
