T60(1953D9U) will not find a particular wireless network

#1 Post by cristiline » Wed Aug 22, 2012 11:55 pm

I'm trying to connect my T60(1953D9U) to my home's wireless network, but the laptop cannot locate the network.

It IS recognizing several other wireless networks from my apartment building.

My network IS definitely on because I'm using it on two other computers. It's a Netgear.

I was wondering if maybe the laptop couldn't recognize the network because of security issues, but I have tried making the network both WEP and WAP-PSK [TKIP], and the laptop won't recognize it either way.

The laptop is running Windows XP.

Any ideas on how I can fix this and get my laptop to locate my wireless network?

You could try shutting down the encryption and disabling access connections just to see if that's causing it to fail. You might want to try a Linux disc to if it works. That would tell you if it's a hardware or software issue.

Have you got the router set to hide the SSID?
