Hi.
I consider buying a very cheap T61p and sell it, however it have one issue: When powered on there is no image on the screen, nor 2. screen and there is no beeps. However the status lights are working (according to the seller).

The symptoms:

- The seller tells that the laptop will onyl be turned on IF it is plugged in.
- No beeps
- No Picture on screen (nor external)
- Lights ARE on
- Windows doesnt load (i dont know how he tests it, since it have no picture?)

The laptop is with a nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M and im considering the GFX to be the issue. Is that correct?

Best regards

Stay away from that machine, it would be a waste of money.

I know it would cost a lot to get it working, however its quite cheap.

Here in denmark a used T61p will go for around 2500 DKK (336 EUR, 420 $), while this one only costs 500 DKK (67 EUR, 85 $)

My first thought was to replace the motherboard with a 43Y9047 from a T61, with nVidia GPU. Would that be possible?

So i thought that maybe it could be fixed and sold with a Little profit

You most likely need a new system board and getting a reliable board isn't easy. If you wanted a good reliable system to use then I'd say get it, invest in a good board, anywhere from $200-400+, and you'll have a great system to use, but they rarely are profitable to fix because there are so many being sold onine that have improper repairs done on them.... selling one that has been properly repaired is like trying to sell a genuine Rolex watch on the streets of hongkong, where every street corner is selling fakes, and there you are rightfully insisting you have a real one, while thousands of other voices are claiming their fakes are real too. Caveat Emptor

My advice is buy it only if you want to fix it, keep it and use it.
