T60p upgradeability - 64 bit CPU, RAM?

Hi folks,
I'm looking to get 64 bit on my T60p 2007-93U, currently equipped with a T2600 Yonah. I understand this is generally supported; does it depend on mobo or BIOS revision, or will it Just Work regardless? CPU-Z shows my BIOS version as 79ETE1WW (2.21), date 02/05/2008.
I'm not looking for a lot of speed, just want the 64 bit. I saw the T7200 aka SL9SF recommended on the forum as a good basic option. Is there any particularly recommended source on the internet for a SL9SF?
Is the 3 GB RAM chipset limit on the T60p still the most up to date knowledge, or has someone managed to work around this? I probably wouldn't bother with a mobo swap to T61p, but if it turned out I could just flash the BIOS or something and drop in a second 2 GB stick, I might be interested.
Thanks!
