T61p Battery problem reset with PM not possible

Hi guys,
I bought a used T61p over Ebay and it was already stated that the battery might be bad already. So i was quite surprised that the battery was from 05/2009 and stated from PM to be in good condition (56Wh/56Wh). The first time I used the T61 unplugged it stated something about 3h of battery life and i could work for 10min then the laptop tried to get into hibernation but could not even do this with the remaining charge. Symbol blinking orange and charging again. But it charges very slow and does not even go above 3-4% in a whole night. So i tried to make a battery reset to be at least properly informed about the remaining 10min and the T61 can begin the shutdown early enough to finish. But the reset can not work without 100% charge...funny thing is: If i take the battery pack out and in again its displayed 100% again and i could reset. So the battery drains fast again and begins charging again to 3-4%, so no real reset is done! The Sony battery pack has only 75 cycles and 3 years, should perform a bit better?!
Is there something i can do, before buying a new one? Like a hard reset w/o PM, external charging or something else?
Thanks Tobi
