SSD question...

Hi.

My mind is bothered with a question to which I cannot find any answer, even in this forum.

The situation is like this:
- (I run T61, W7)
- I have switched from disk drive to an SSD drive.
- this spare disk drive I have installed back to the computer using Ultrabay Slim HDD Adapter.
- I certainly do not need Active Protection system (?!?!)

Since it is known that active protection system is not needed with ssd setup, I therefore better remove the program. But on the other hand I prefer to have action protection system installed because it protects the disk drive in Ultrabay Slim HDD Adapter from shocks, because I move my laptop from time to time while it's turned on.

In my case, would it be easier to change my habit not to move the computer or is there any super installation advice of active protection system so that it would take care only of hard disk drives which have rotating parts, but not ssds?

Cheers
Ж

It seems like there is no simple answer to this.

I'll list here some keywords for other people with the same mind-boggling issue:

lenovo thinkpad T61 T60 ultrabay slim hdd adapter SSD active protection system

To me, it's not a difficult or mind boggling question. My primary Thinkpad T61 have a 120 GB SSD and a 500 GB HDD via the Ultrabay slot. Active protection system is installed and activated to help protect the HDD. It doesn't hurt the SSD. It runs quietly and seamlessly in the background.

Ough... btw, did that happen to any of you?
Namely: windows started to freeze after switching to an ssd drive. Freezing lasts about a minute more or less and it occurs couple of times per hour (when actively using the computer). I did run chkdsk, which gave me 0 errors. Pagefile is set to use ssd (automatic). SSD drive is OCZ agility III. Firmware version 2.22.

Cheers

Oh, yeah!
That happened to me a lot, see this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=105987
After changing to a diferent SSD (the Intel 330 was presumed faulty) my T60 is running flawlessly.

OCZ is the most crappy brand for SSDs. Sorry. Next time buy Samsung.

Thanks. Your thread was helpful. In my case the installation of windows was from scratch on an empty ssd.
[censored] you OCZ!!
