OK I stripped one of my T61s down. It had no video, external video was fine. Both F3 and F8 are blown. Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have new fuses soldered in? I am in NJ, I have the fuses, bought 10 of each on ebay. Dang they are sooooo small!!

Using a soldering iron with a very fine tip, just piggy-back solder the new fuse over the old one.
Using leaded solder makes it that little bit easier.
A steady hand and an illuminated magnifier on a gooseneck are great helps for that.

RBS Those things are too dang small!! My id should give you a hint of the size of my hands!!! I will take it to my solder guy and ask him for a price. He only charged me 15.00 last time. Then I can make an informed decision. Waiting for the guy to get back to me about a used base, LCD was stepped on!!

If you need a new base I can help you with that. I have a closet full of T61 plastics and other parts in various grades. and screens aswell.
As for soldering the fuses, if you ask nicely you may be able to get RBS to do it for a reasonable fee.
edit:
*my apologies to RBS, I assumed it would be something within the scope of what theboardroom does*
I should also note that fuses don't normally wear out, they usually only fail for good cause and without fixing the cause, a new fuse will usually fail just like the old one which is why Lenovo didn't make them serviceable. Your best bet would be to replace the board.

I see, I misunderstood. As far as a base and other parts, I have many very reasonably priced. I can get boards too, but I don't buy or sell the as-is or "boots to bios" boards. I've seen countless people end up with baked GPUs, boards that don't charge batteries, and all sorts of failures. I source all my boards from complete working laptops and usually focus on the rare boards, but I do have access to common ones too so you're welcome to message me and I'll see what I can get you.
