my fairly old T60 seems to work fine, for quite a while. tried now for
first time to use external TFT monitors. tried three different ones,
several sets of cables, various resolutions, whatever, directly on the
laptop as well as thru the advanced mini dock -->> same result always,
a terrible flicker on the external monitor, unusable.

first time i see this on the many laptops i tried. what is possibly different
on a T60, or where is my thinking wrong?

when i boot, the boot screen shows a rock solid picture also on the external
monitor, but starts the flicker the moment windows boots properly (WIN XP
'WELCOME', with Intel GMA950).

tried with a linux CD -->> perfect picture.

the LENOVO system update does not find any newer driver for the graphics
card than the one already there, but that is from 2008 (?).

there is really NOBODY here who uses his T60 on an external
TFT monitor, and could tell me what possibly i am doing wrong?

Have you tried adjusting the refresh rate/frequency?

george, yes, 50 and 60hz are selectable, no noticable difference on either of them.

Not that this will be of any direct help but I have used a Win 7 T60 as a mediacenter at 1920x1080 with no problems.

no, this IS of help, since also linux is working fine, it points to
XP as the culprit - but what do it do? drivers fully updated, XP fully
updated ...

Seems to be a driver / software issue. Try to completely remove video driver and see first if it works OK with VGA driver. Then try to install the GMA950 driver (maybe even from Intel, not Lenovo).
