hey i have an ibm thinkpad t61 7658 and the lcd is not as bright as i believe it should be, basically its hard to see on battery power, and not that bright on ac power and its dull, the backlight works just not bright.
im planing on replacing the part thats needed to make it nice and bright and just dont know if its the inverter leaking power or the ccfl just weak from time and use
also if its the screen what should i look into getting, is there on lcd over another??

It could be the inverted but I doubt it. Thing is, it's perfectly normal for CCFL screens to have lower brightness levels due to use. You can check in the power manager what level of brightness it is configured to, perhaps you're in the middle. You can also enter the BIOS and adjust the brightness level from "normal" to "high".
There is really nothing you can do about it except swapping the LCD tube or getting a new screen but before that, I'd try with another inverted just to be sure. That's one of the main reasons I decided to get rid on my old machines; LED screens seem to last forever.

If you're interested, I just got a very bright 1280x800 screen in that will fit your system. it's running next to me now while I evaluate the machine, then it's board will be sold to fill an order and the screen will be available too.
I can provide the inverter too if you like. Send me a PM if interested.
