t60 no boot: no display

Hi, I'm having an issue with my t60: it's not booting or displaying anything on The screen. It switches on fine, and displays the power light, the fan and hdd spin up and it checks for discs too. It does not give any output on an external monitor, and does not respond to keyboard input. I don't think this is a motherboard fault, as I'm having the same problem withmy x60 motherboard, only difference is that gives a beep code without ram, the t60 only sometimes does.

Pull the memory, hard drive, battery, DVD drive and wifi card. Plug in the AC and power it on. If it does not beep, the board is most likely dead. If it does beep, try putting the items back one at a time to see if you can find the culrpit.

OK, I appear (a few hours ago) to have a similar problem of no boot and no display on a T60. I have pulled the memory and get a beep code per the HMM. I know the memory is good since it works in another machine. I actually pulled the hardrive and put into another machine and it works. I put that hardrive into this T60. I have pulled the wireless card and CD as ZaZ recommended. It still does not boot.
Any other ideas. I do have the original processor T2400 I could exchange.
Thanks,
Bruce

Changed the processor as a long shot, still does not boot. Fan does spin up and hard drive is running. Still looking, any ideas appreciated before I look for a system board.
Oh, it is a 2007-4CU X1300 1400X1050. I assume I could put a X1400 system board in.
thanks,
Bruce

Does it respond to keyboard input (Caps Lock button) while the fan is spinning? If not, you can kiss that planar goodbye in my experience.

You can put any board from a non-widescreen T60/p: Intel 950, ATi X1300/X1400/V5200/V5250 - they will all work.

OK, No cap lock or num lock light with keyboard input, only for a brief moment on startup. Fan control is working as it comes on and off while the laptop is just sitting warming but not booting.
Are there particular system board component failures to look for like on the T2X series or is it just toast?

Not that I'm aware of. This doesn't sound like a fixable problem such as blown fuse...
If you decide to replace the board, feel free to drop me a PM, I've got a couple of different ones available...
Good luck.
