Middleton Bios Issue

I have A second hand ThinkPad T61 with a hard drive that it on it's way out so I went ahead and ordered an SSD to give the laptop a performance boost.

To ensure that I get the most out of my ThinkPad I decided to go ahead and flash the middleton bios mod to get SATA 2 speeds. All the flashing process went well (flashed under windows 32bit) so I thought that was that.

Until tonight when I resumed my laptop from sleep it shutdown and upon switching it back on I got the "error 0192 system security embedded security hardware tamper detected" message. I have no idea what to do in this situation and I really don't want to have to replace my board, could this be the middleton bios or just a coincidence? I haven't found anyone else online who has the same connection between the two.

Is flashing the official bios back on an option?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ross

Problem solved I uninstalled a CPU frequency tool that I'd recently installed and it seems to have fixed the problem. I will update if the problem comes back!

For anyone who is wondering it was a Ubuntu applet called "CPUFreq".

That's new to me and interesting. Thanks for sharing. I assume the error message showed up during OS loading? I going to install CPUfreq running Mint Maya on an unmodified T400 to see if the same message show up.

Well I would put my laptop into suspend (S3 I think?) and then plug into the power outlet. I would leave it for around half an hour, if I then unplugged and tried to wake the laptop the error would pop up. (It seemed to be bios message)

If I woke the laptop while plugged in the error would never occur and if I only left it in sleep for about 5 mins it wouldn't happen.

Let me know if you get the same issues with CPUFreq.

P.S. Just for comparison my T61 is the intel graphics with a T7300 CPU.
