Hey Guys,
I have to replace the merom-nvidia-mainboard of my T61p with the nvidia m570 which was bug-free because it was produced after 09/2008. I use a T7500-merom on it.
Now I want to get shure not to buy a spare mainboard produced bevore and including the nvidia-bug.
I found a spare one which is designed for the newer penryn-cpu and because the penryn itself is much newer than the merom one, I want you to ask if it is no risk to buy such a mainboard because all penryn-ones could be automatically nvidia-bug-free because of their newer production date.
Or is it the same as on the merom-mainboards where it is never recommended to buy one whose gpu is produced before 08/2008?
Thanx a lot and greetings from Germany,
Matse
Do any penryn-boards have the Nvidia-Bug?

Re: Do any penryn-boards have the Nvidia-Bug?
Welcome to the forum!
The short answer to your question would be "yes".
Penryn boards started rolling out in January of 2008, before the nVidia issue was addressed.
Lenovo started using updated chips in February of 2008, but didn't switch to using them exclusively until August of the same year.
So while a Penryn board is somewhat less of an gamble than an early Merom board, it still carries a risk unless:
a) Production date of the machine can be verified
b) Replacement by Lenovo was provided under warranty terms after August of '08.
Good luck.
