Hi there,

Search this forum for solutions but it to the "3" out the search of "USB 3" so I got more result than I bargained for;) - I have USB 3 HDD I am trying to get my old Thinkpad T60p laptop to accept without much success. When I connect it the drive letter shoves up in explorer but it always asks to put a disk into the drive when I try to access it. It also show up in disk management in control panel but I am unable to do anything with it over there. Anyone know how to go about this or is it not possible to get USB 3 devices working on Thinkpad T60P?

I assume that you are using a 54mm ExpressCard with two USB 3.0 ports like this one :

It is important to connect the "additional power" USB cable to the center port of the card so that there is enough power for the USB 3.0 harddrive.

I would in fact assume he is using the built-in USB2.0 ports. The drive should be backwards compatible, though it still may require extra power (if it's a 3.5" drive).

Hi guys,

Thank's guys for you reply, I have 2.5 HDD in ICYBOX and this is the cable that goes to the box http://www.intomobile.com/2010/01/11/fi ... bile-next/
on the other end of the cable there are two conventional USB connectors hooked together. I have tried to connect them bot at the same time to my laptop without success.
Do I need to buy USB 3 (PCI) adapter to use the HDD or is should the HDD box not be USB 2 backwards compatible just giving my less throughput when I operate it?

Thanks for you help.
