t61 965 driver for Windows 7 64bit?
t61 965 driver for Windows 7 64bit?
what version of the driver should I be using?
I've had BSOD when running on batters after coming from sleep.
the current version of the driver I'm on is from the intel site, 8.15.10.1930.
I have a Lenovo T61, Windows 7 64 bit, 4GB ram,
device manager says I have: Intel 965 Express chipset for the display.
I just recently installed windows7 64 bit on a new hard drive.

1) Look on the bottom of your T61.
2) On the sticker with a bar code are seven alphanumeric digits in this format XXXX-xxx usually has the term 'Model' near it
3) Go here to Lenovo Support
4) Type in the seven digits into the field labeled 'Quick Path' and hit enter
5) Your model should appear and there will be a list of specs that your ThinkPad was manufactured with the day it left the factory
6) If for some reason there is no model that appears then it is likely you have a CTO which is a configure-to-order option which IIRC is a custom order
7) If you get #5 then you can proceed to click on 'Drivers and Software' on the right-side of your screen under the header 'Select Task'
8 ) A long list of drivers listed under their respective broad titles will appear e.g. Audio, Video, Power Management, Chipset, etc.
9) Those are the drivers you should be using at the minimum to get a 99.5% stable running ThinkPad; the 0.05% is attributable to user error or other contingencies
Before you begin installing anything could you please go to your control panel>>Device Manager>> report any yellow triangles with exclamation marks back to this thread. This will actually be useful in pin-pointing some clues as to why your T61 likes to throw a tantrum with you.
Good luck

I only have 2:
1. In Network adapters, Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
2. In Other devices, Biometric Coprocessor.
I believe I had the driver from the lenovo website, but at that time, I didn't have the power utilities installed. I have installed since then, but have reverted back to the windows 7 default driver.

Re: t61 965 driver for Windows 7 64bit?
Could you please post the seven-digit code that I mentioned earlier? It would help so I or someone else can see exactly what hardware your T61 was manufactured with etc.
For future reference using the drivers directly from Intel is not always the best solution. IIRC the drivers issued by Lenovo are created to work for your T61 with the specs (hardware) it was manufactured with. This might be also be true for other laptop manufacturers as well. Have you tried Lenovo Update Utility by any chance also?

I have upgraded to 4gb RAM and a WD 750gb hard drive.
Yes, I have tried the lenovo update utility and it did NOT find any new drivers.

The Biometric Coprocessor seems to be related to your Fingerprint Reader device. If you want the driver for it this is directly from the Lenovo site Thinkvantage Fingerprint Reader. It is 64-bit. That should eliminate the yellow triangle for Biometric Coprocessor.
Not too sure about the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-interface. My impression is that it is a networking device. Hopefully someone with a T61 will chime in and assist.
I am a bit confused about something at this point also- you are using Windows own version of power management and video drivers directly from the Intel site?

The power management is from Lenovo. I had video drivers from the Intel site. I have uninstalled and currently waiting when I will next get the BSOD.emeraldgirl08 wrote: I am a bit confused about something at this point also- you are using Windows own version of power management and video drivers directly from the Intel site?

Leave the Power Manager installed for now. Over time you will find that it is quite an interesting and effective program- pretty much no other power management program works as well as it. Learn how to set your 'start charge' and 'stop charge' times to extend the life of your battery. You will also be able to control the power management of your T61 to a 'T' literally.
Anyhoo I've digressed
For now I need you to download that "Video" driver from Lenovo for your 64-bit W7 and keep it handy just in case you get another blue screen. I'll make it easy-
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... d803ww.exe
^^^That is the direct link to download your Lenovo issued video driver.
If you do get another blue screen:
1) restart
2) Go to start (Windows orb)>>Computer>>Local Disk C:>>SW Tools>>delete the folder labeled "Video"
3) Control Panel>>Device Manager>>Display Adapters>>Right-click on "Mobile Intel 4 Series..Chipset" and click on 'Properties'
4) Click on the tab 'Drivers'
5) Click on Uninstall
6) Your screen resolution should now be utterly atrocious..do not worry
7) If you have CCleaner or something similar run "Cleaner" and "Registry"
8 ) Now install that 'Video' driver I had you download and told you to keep handy
9) Restart your T61
Hopefully that will take care of any existing driver conflicts in your setup. I had you delete the 'Video' folder in SW Tools because upon reboot the computer will look for drivers in that folder and automatically install it. That is something we do not want in this situation as those drivers are most likely old. Deleting the SW Tools folder and installing the latest "Video" driver (made for your T61) is what we want at this point. Hopefully no more BSOD also.
Hope that helps
