Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
I've been searching google for hours for the IAQX10N or S screen, and I've come up pretty empty handed. There are a few of them on ebay for around $350, but that seems way too high.
Is there still any reliable source of them? I found some on Taobao for somewhat decent prices, but it doesn't look very easy to order from there.

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
These are indeed your choices: high price (in your opinion) on feebay or getting someone "in the know" to get you one on Taobao.
Those of us who bought the surplus QXGA panels several years ago were dancing with joy while we were paying $350 or so for them. Given the age and the rarity of these screens, I expect them to keep the value, and possibly go higher.
You do realize that this was a $1200 upgrade when R50p was originally offered, right?

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Yeah, I do. I had read about someone getting them for very cheap before($60-100), so I had high hopes. But you're right, they are likely to keep going higher. I was hoping maybe there was some source of them which I hadn't noticed before.
I suppose I will keep looking to see if I can find a cheaper refurbished or used one. I don't need a brand new LCD.

A few months ago, I publicly offered $150 a piece for a box of 100, fco my doorstep and had *NO* offers...

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Well if that's the case.. looks like I'm out of luck. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find one somewhere. I was really hoping I could have a relatively unique and awesome machine for a silly low price. This looks to be a classic case of 'Did Not Do Research.'
On the plus side, it won't be hard to resell the T60 I bought. Type 2007-J2U. Everything was going so well -- I even got one without a BIOS password this time!

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Before selling your T60 you might want to consider the UXGA panel, which offers some benefits. One, it's 30% brighter. The 150 nits of brightness that the QXGA LCD offers is going to seem dim compared to a modern display and since the QXGA LCD is CFFL backlight, it'll only get worse over time. Second, the UXGA has a much more palatable 133 pixel density compared to 170+ on the QXGA. Text will be awfully small on the QXGA. I don't think you'll get the UXGA for $100 either, but it should be less painful than the QXGA. I picked the SXGA+ LCD for my R60e for $100 new.

Sorry for hijacking the topic: could you PM me a good seller for such screens? I'll also need one for my 14" 4:3 T61. Thanks!ZaZ wrote:I picked the SXGA+ LCD for my R60e for $100 new

They don't accept Visa/Master or Paypal, which means you'll have little if any recourse should something go awry.

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Yeah, that was my thought. I did get in contact with a different seller and ordered one for $102 shipped. We will see is anything shows up. Somehow I think I just lost some money.. but if not, I'll perhaps get a bunch of them for you people, if there is demand.

Any update on this? I'd love to save $200 on the QXGA panel vs Ebay.
Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Well, the one seller I was talking about said that it turns out they don't actually have any of those.
I don't know about that store I linked a few posts ago.
That LED UXGA mod is starting to look better anyway.

Ah...the undying "cheap QXGA" fairy tale...
That's why I heard crickets and nothing but crickets when I had offered $150 a panel for a box of 100 at my doorstep...
As for the LED-mod, it's vastly superior to the QXGA one in *all* aspects apart from sheer resolution. I've owned both...on an almost identical hardware otherwise...take a look here:

And for the 14" 4:3? is there still a source? tried already akkubattery.net and had to fight my money back...because they only said they have 100 pieces, but finally nothing in stock

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
There never were any QXGA panels for 14" LCDs. The highest one can go there is UXGA seen on some old Dells, made by Sharp...Thrakath wrote:And for the 14" 4:3? is there still a source? tried already akkubattery.net and had to fight my money back...because they only said they have 100 pieces, but finally nothing in stock

Wow - RBS Nice stuff. Could you do the same for a 14" UXGA Mod (LED) and/ or 15" QXGA ? Or only 15" UXGA for now?RealBlackStuff wrote:Surprised you haven't seen the 15" UXGA screens with LED-backlight I offer!

Sorry - As I read I realized it was only the factory done LED stock.

Reading this thread has convinced me to not chase the fabled QXGA panel. I'll stick to UXGA...

Re: Does anyone have sources for the QXGA panel?
Indeed, the UXGA in my T60p at the moment is probably the prettiest screen I've laid eyes on, and my friend in college who got the T43p that has the same exact screen is also in love with it (despite it being dimmer than the one I put in my T60p).
QXGA sounds absolutely insane along the lines of pixel depth, I have no need for such screen estate on a 15" screen. I use my T60p for school and occasionally gaming, UXGA is more than enough for that.

Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...
