I have a T61 that I love, and last week it seemed to completely die. No lights worked, plugging it in made no difference, even with the battery removed. Nothing I did had any effect.
So I put it away, and then just now I plugged it in and it fired right up.
I don't imagine anyone has a theory about what part might be on the fritz? I love this laptop, would hate to see it go.
Thanks for any help.
Computer died then came back to life...
Re: Computer died then came back to life...
If you will tell us the seven character type number, maybe we can come up with some ideas about what happened.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Well, can't tell much about those Configure-To-Order systems, and 6458W7C doesn't show up a the product details search.
But, it could have been that capacitors in the power circuits had built up a latent charge that was drained by letting the laptop sit for a while. Or, something else entirely. Just a guess.

Re: Computer died then came back to life...
Well I don't know if this is related, but twice now the wifi has become disabled with no way to fix but a reboot. By that I mean:
- all networks become invisible, exactly as if I use the wifi switch to turn off the card
- when I go to Network Connections and disable the card, that works, but when I try to re-enable it, it says it can't.
- rebooting fixes it, for awhile...
- this is a new issue
- running XP with all updates
Argh.
