Hi all,
On my T61 I installed Xubuntu in a dual boot config alongside Windows 7. Under Windows 7 while using battery there is some CPU whine noise but it is not noticeable unless I'm really looking for it.
When using Xubuntu however the noise is audible from a few feet away. The difference is night and day. I know disabling speedstep or the C3 sleep state can solve the issue but I'd rather not kill battery life. I was wondering why it happens under Linux but not Windows? Does it have anything to do with the fact that Windows has power management drivers installed? I'm a Linux noob so excuse my ignorance if this is a common thing.
Thanks
