Replacement Battery
Can anyone recommend a good replacement battery? Which brand is best or should I just fork over the money for a genuine one?

Re: Replacement Battery
a genuine one will be guaranteed to work but ive just bought one off ebay for £12.99 shipped brand new
Re: Replacement Battery
Lenovo outlet periodically has batteries at good prices.
But you go to JUMP, some times the batteries are only on the outlet site for a few days, then they are gone.

Re: Replacement Battery
be careful buying from ebay, many of them are blackmarket batteries that have never passed testing for safety standards and you could not only burn up your laptop, but your whole house too. New "free trade" laws are being abused to get batteries out of countries that don't enforce the laws and into ones that do without any inspection. If you do get a generic, I'd recommend one from a reputable retailer that isn't likely to buy them from an anonymous seller on ebay (for example).
As far as genuine ones go, they are expensive, but you can get used ones at a reasonable price. I currently have some listed for $30 that read as good (green) in power manager. Every now and then I get some in close to new condition for $50, and although it's rare, I do get new ones come in sometimes.

Re: Replacement Battery
I got a replacement battery in August from my regular vendor. It is the Lenovo Battery and it was the same price or perhaps a wee bit more that an aftermarket battery that does not void warranty.

Re: Replacement Battery
I just replaced my T60 battery with an Anker on Amazon.
It is a little more expense than some of the other aftermarket batteries, but had very good reviews from amazon purchasers, plus I'm a amazon Prime member so shipping was free. I was willing to pay a few dollars extra because Amazon support is excellent.
After installing the battery, it ran just fine right out of the box, had about 40% charge, charged up fine. I have discharged the battery down to 3% and charged. I was surprised how long the my T60 ran on only the new battery, almost 5 hours.
Using a system info utility, it says that the battery was made by Sony, that is a good thing not bad.
When using the T60 at home on my lap, I do have a lap board for laptops, I have noticed that the T60 is running slightly hotter. A trick I learned a long time ago is to put the electric cord under the back end of the laptop, this allows a space for air to circulate.
So far I am 4 stars out of 5, I do not know if the heat is a battery issue or not.
