T61/XP, no more standby
always worked fine, now suddenly standby greyed out on start > turn off menu. fn+f4 does nothing. ctr panel > power options > advanced -- closing lid has only 'do nothing' and 'hibernate' available, no 'standby'. powercfg /a says sleep modes S1, S2, S3 and hibernate unavailable on the system. no standby in safe mode either.
reinstalled pwr mgnt driver, display driver (from lenovo and intel), bat maximiser, hotkey, nothing. looked through bios (middleton), see no ACPI settings i can change. restored defaults, nothing. this is perplexing and annoying. i need the standby functionality back. anyone knows how to fix this?
thanks in advance.

Re: T61/XP, no more standby
didn't work.
Re: T61/XP, no more standby
Standby is a really fickle thing.
You could have installed something, or software somewhere has done something.
My only solution to situations like this is to do a fresh OS install.
Once you do a fresh os install and set up as how you like, then do a disk image.
