External LCD connection/disconnection detection

Hello,
recently I bought remarketed T60. Everything is fine but one thing bothers me. From newer laptops I'm used to automatic detection of connected/disconnected external LCD.
My external LCD is set as primary. When I disconnects it, system does not detect this action and still projects image on external LCD even when it's disconnected. I have to use Ctrl+Alt+F3 to manualy switch image to internal LCD. The same applies when connecting external LCD - i have to manualy switch image to extended desktop.
Is there any way how to automatize this thing? It works fine on my other laptops (T400 and HP 4530s).
Thinkpad is 1951-CTO (965GM graphics).
Thank you
