I ordered my new lamp from the Ebay link below on Thursday morning(14th). It arrived this morning (saturday), Free post.
Installed and working. I'm quite pleased.
Here's where I bought it.
New CCFL 290mm x 2mm backlight with wires. £8.90 including postage to the UK. Shipped from Nottingham UK.

One thing though I confess, I have a slightly bright spot along an couple of inches of the bottom of screen, in the centre portion, just where the windows task bar sits. I suspect it has to do with the tightness of the screen frame at this point. The screen frame is clamped by screws at the corners, but only by that silver tape along the centre. I think I need to renew the sticky tape.
Also, the wires on the replacement lamp are a longer than the originals. I read that in order to keep the volt drop to a minimum, the wires should be short. Should I shorten them?
Should I or anybody need a new screen these people seem pretty good.
NEW LCD Matte screen. 14.1 Genuine FRU 13n7051/Samsung LTN141XA-L01. £64.85. Free postage to UK. Postaged from Ipswitch UK.

They sent me pictures of the rear of the screen, showing the FRU and Samsung partnumbers, exactly the same as my own screen, and gaurantee that is what I will get. So if they send a compatible, I can get all my money back from Ebay, because I could prove they lied. But I'm sure they are genuine. They are very helpful. Actually on looking at their website, they don't list the 1400x900 by FRU, but I do recall them saying they could get it if I wanted it.

And for an inverter, if I need one later.
Inverter. 41W1010 BRAND NEW. Hongkong company. I'll buy(might) one of these if my lamp doesn't fix the problem. -- Or I'll buy the screen,
They've sent me pictures of genuine IBM inverters, and gaurantee that is what I will get. Price £13.60 including postage to the UK.

All in all, I'm glad I did this, and would have no hesitation in doing it again. Maybe even converting to LED in the future, just for the hell of it.
Thanks for the helpful tips everybody.
