Okay, is there anything that needs to be kept in mind installing an ssd into a T60? Any incompatibilities with newer SSD's I should be aware of?

The recovery discs nor a XP disc align the partition properly. You'll need a Vista or Windows 7 disc to get proper SSD alignment. Other than that, it should work fine. I've a 80GB SSD in my R60e, which of the same era as the T60. It runs like a champ, though I'm running Linux on it.

My T60 runs also very, very nice with SSD and now also with Win8. I had some troubles installing the SSD, see this thread:

See my thread, I tried to make it clear and simple, using a Crucial SSD and XP, still running great, I can't think of a problem.

I recently bought an SSD for my T61. Found a nicely priced one on eBay and luckily it was an Intel. Someone gave me the tip that Intel supplies free software to Intel users that makes transferring your "old" drive's contents to your "new" one. I use it to keep a complete drive backup on a 2nd SSD (from same vendor) and it makes the copy in only 25 minutes. Here's the link for the software info... http://www.techspot.com/news/40577-inte ... omers.html
