Speed up 2nd HDD (Ultrabay)

#1 Post by ScottyBoy » Tue Apr 09, 2013 1:06 pm

Evening All,

Quick one for you guys & girls - I vaguely remember that there was a software utility that could be used to speed up the I/O for HDDs, accessed via a 2nd HDD Caddy in the T61 Ultrabay.

I know it won't provide native SATA speeds, due to the Ultrabay being PATA based, but can anyone please point me in the right direction for it.

Cheers :D

Hmmmm....if such a software exists, I would be very interested in this also.

if my software you mean putting it at dma 5 setting? You can do that in device manager. I've never heard of such a thing and the t61 has a very broad and strong following.

Apologies for the delay in replying (playing catch up after a death in the family) but I remember the additional software utility was meant to hard-set it, as apparently the DMA settings reverted during hibernation and/or running off of the battery.

It was quite a while ago now but so far I haven't been able to find hide or hair of it on any of the technical forums that I keep up-to-date with I'm afraid. :?
