NVidia 140 Driver for Windows 7

#1 Post by Bruce Guttman » Sun Apr 21, 2013 4:09 pm

Did a search here and on the Windows 7 board and came up empty. Also came up empty on the Lenovo site and the NVidia site.

I have a T61 (8892-02U) that I just installed Windows 7 (32 bit) on. I used System Update to download everything Lenovo says I need.

The graphics controller seems to think it's a generic VGA that is able to achieve 1400x1050 and 32K colors, but Windoze Games says I have no hardware acceleration. The drivers for Display show an NVidia driver for 2000, XP, and Vista but not Windows 7 or 8. The NVidia snoop program comes up empty or freezes.

What driver do I need to make this thing work properly? The XP or Vista driver? Something else?

Hah! Found a driver under Video instead of Display. I'll post results.

Still a bit miffed that Auto Update didn't bother to download it.

<Edit>

Looks like that driver filled the bill. False alarm.

Generally "display" is for the monitor not the gpu chip, but on some models the nVidia drivers are listed in multiple locations, even listed on models equipped with Intel graphics, so I think whoever setup the database was a bit lazy, but better redundant than lacking.

Regarding system update, it seems their database is also lacking on the 14" standard models. On most of the widescreens it will detect the nVidia, but I've had to manually install them on most of the 4:3 units.

Glad you were able to sort it out.
