T61p with Word 2013 and blinking cursor

I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 Pro Plus on my T61p 6457 and all was working well, until I uninstalled Office 2010, and installed Office 2013 Pro Plus, and ran Lenovo System Update to check all the latest drivers were installed.

When I open up Word 2013 - the cursor continuously blinks - I checked setting under control panel/keyboard properties and mouse driver (16.0.2).

How do I remove the blinking cursor that blinks at a high rate all the time, rather than not blinking at all as it used to be - is it an office, windows or virus problem?

You have been suckered by MicroShaft to become a paying guinea pig for their (apparently not fully tested) latest bloatware version of Office.

Try to switch On/Off: Options/Edit/Use smart cursoring (as found in older Office versions).
Hebrew is written from right-to-left, there are specific settings for R-to-L behavior.
I bet the problem lies in there.
Have you tried another L-to-R language such as English, has it the same problems?

The problem does go away with/without smart cursoring, and is universal with both English and Hebrew.

Will clean install windows 7 and office 2010.
