I got my T61 today & need to buy some things for it. Currently running Ubuntu live off of a USB lol. I just want to make sure that I'm buying compatible parts. The specific model is a T61 6465 CTO.

It has a 1280x800 LCD, so I'm looking to upgrade that to a 1680x1050. Would this one work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251257269778?ss ... 1438.l2649
Oh, by the way. The listing says for a T61P, but the picture says T61 & the seller says it will work with a T61.

For storage, I'm looking at a SSD + HDD. My biggest concern is with the hard drive caddies/ultrabays/adapters. I don't know what I need for 2 drives. Would I be replacing the dvd drive?(which is fine)

Here are the drives that I'm wanting to get:
SSD: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360629730301?ss ... 1438.l2649
HDD: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-500-Mobile-H ... laptop+hdd

Here's the 1.8" --> 2.5" adapter for the SSD: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111011926170?ss ... 1438.l2649

I'm not sure if I should get the SSD because I could flash the T61 to the Middleton BIOS and have SATA II speeds, correct? Sorry, I'm a noob. If I could flash to SATA II, that would be great, because I don't actually have money for upgrades right now & the samsung SSD is about to end/run out of stock. I'm waiting on the cash from selling my gaming desktop.

Also, I'm going to buy a docking station & a 2nd charger for <$30 total. I have a 1680x1050 & a 1366x768 external monitor I want to hook up to it. One has a VGA & the other has a VGA & DVI. That will work right? I see a VGA & DVI spot on the docking station I'm looking at. The graphics card is a PM965/GM695. Another thing I would like to do with the docking station would be to put a usb DVD drive on it & mount it to my desk's hutch. So, two monitors, a charger, my phone, Sennheiser 280s(headphones), ethernet, & the usb dvd drive would be connected to the docking station.

Thanks & sorry I'm such a noob. I've tried to research everything before posting, but I'm still very unsure about a lot of these things' compatibility.

Thinkpads 5ever.

You know what? I think I've got the hard drive/ssd bays/adapters/ultrabay thing figured out.

One normal caddy & a 1.8"-->2.5" adapter for the SSD. Put them all together & shove it in.

One ultrabay & that's it for the HDD.

Wow, I feel stupid. I didn't know that the ultrabay was for the dvd spot.

I'm thinking about getting the advanced docking station and adding a cheaper graphics card to it. I'm googling around and can't find what graphics cards are compatible with it.

edit: Will I need the advanced docking station for two external monitors?

Yes, that LCD assembly is "plug & play" for your machine.

Honestly, I don't think that one should be saving money on the purchase of a SSD. Buy tested and reliable, even if it's a few bucks more. At least that's what I do.

As for the HDD, you can likely do better at NewEgg...
