more ips panel confusion

Hello,
I'm trying to buy a T60/p with an IPS panel. According to Thinkwiki and this post all 15in T60s with a higher resolution than 1024x768 are IPS. But according to this page, the HV150P01-100 panel is not IPS, and that comes in some 15in 1400x1050 t60s.

So, I was wondering, is there a way to tell the difference? Is the HV150P01-100 panel "good enough"?

My main usage is at a text console, so dark blacks and high contrast are more important than anything else. On a similar note, I'm thinking of also getting a more "classic" thinkpad - a t2x or previous to play with. Any recommendations on screen quality for working at a console? Any to avoid?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

The Hydis panel you're concerned about is a AFFS panel, and AFFS is based on IPS, so it's a FlexView no less.

Most of the folks around here believe that Hydis is the best conventional LCD that you can have in a T60/p.

With all of that said, thousands of machines later, I have yet to see a Hydis 15" SXGA+ panel on a T60p...every single one that I've ever seen was LG Philips.

Thanks very much, that's what I was hoping to hear. So as long as any T60 I look for has higher SXGA or higher resolution, it will be IPS.

As long as it sports the original LCD, yes.
