other then the graphics card, ddr3 and cpu, how is the build quality of the t400 vs t61?

anything i should look out for? bad graphics or something major ?

what parts can be swapped out from t61 into a t400? Battery? keyboard? screens? i think the docks work in the 400

found a mint t400 for 150, everything intact

Very close, no real winner.

No major issues. Weak hinges, just like T61.

If you're referring to a 14" widescreen T61, then you got all the parts correct...and that's pretty much about it. The rest of the stuff is not compatible.

Nice find - enjoy!

From a build perspective I prefer the T61, but I can't give you a definitive reason why...

My recommendation would be the T400, as stated above build quality is almost the same, and the touchpad is bigger.

But the major difference in my book is the screen quality. If you're lucky you can get a model with LED screen, or get a model with switchable graphics. Also RAM upgrades are cheaper due to DDR3, you can max out a T400 up to 8GB with a small investment. T61's use DDR2 and buying 8GB would cost you a small fortune.

My 2 cents...

+1 - Oddly enough I find the T400 easier to work on, especially with regards to doing upgrades on the LCD assembly. :)
