T60 replacement

I'm not sure this is the appropriate place to pose this note, but I'll give it a go.

I have a wonderful T60 that's served me well for years, but it's getting a bit long in tooth and it's time to start thinking about a replacement Some of the things I'd like in a new (to me) TP:

--One or two generations back, to keep the cost down.

--Genuine Thinkpad, for a number of reasons.

--HDMI port, so I can remotely stream my Slingbox to a TV when I'm away from home.

--Optical drive bay.

--A model popular with business, so there'll be lots of parts available from off-lease units for years to come.

I see Edges at some pretty attractive prices, but I gather they don't have a good reputation.

What do you guys think?

TIA,
Larry

How so? Perhaps upgrading to a SSD and maybe Windows 7, which runs quite nicely on a T60, might be worth considering? Provided your T60 still work well of course.

Traditional ThinkPads won't have HDMI, but do come with a displayport, which is easily converted to HDMI with a cable.

To tell the truth, the T60 is fine, and there's a seemingly endless supply of inexpensive replacement parts on fleabay and elsewhere. I'm already running Win7. An SSD of the size I need isn't available at a price I'm willing to pay, but sooner or later one will be.

What started all this is remote streaming the Slingbox. I was considering an Intel NUC for the purpose but thought it would be nice if I had to haul only one computing device around.

Maybe I should get a NUC. It's pretty tiny and not a great inconvenience to take along, though it's yet another thing to keep track of.

Another option if you're willing to forgo the optical, who burns anything these days, would be to buy a smaller SSD to use in the main bay for speed and toss your drive or a larger one in the modular caddy to put in the optical bay fro storage, where speed is not as critical.
