Hi all

I use my touch pad mainly. It has been going for 5 years ok. Now it is starting becoming a bit unresponsive - i.e. i need to press it once more sometimes to click.
Is there anything I can do to recondition it?

Replace either the whole palmrest or just the touchpad.

The touchpad contacts are little rubber profiles with a conductive surface in the middle. Compressing makes the rubber contact to copper strips on a printed circuit board. One immediate cure could be to take the touchpad apart (not that difficult) and cleaning the rubber and copper surfaces with some contact cleaner.
Otherwise, the touchpad and whole palmrest are available at reasonable cost.

Hi
thanks. I think I will just buy the touch pad only. I dont need a whole palmrest.
Could someone suggest the right part number for it.
By the way I saw some touch pad on ebay, shipped from Hong Kong. Are those genuine parts or not?
Also does anyone have a touch pad for sale here? And ship to UK? Something in very good condition?
Appreciated.

I'd be glad to provide one. I have some genuine ones as low as $5 each. Shipping international priority mail would be $24, but this type of shipment allows upto 20lbs so if you wanted other items it would be ideal. If you want just the touchpad I can ship it economy for about half the cost.

Send me a PM if you'd like my help.

ps. the part from HK is probably a knock-off. Many claim to be genuine but are not.
