Please explain the benefits of SXGA+ over XGA.
Right now, I have two 14" standard-screen 4:3 T61(s) sitting on my desk.
The one on my left, has SXGA+ running at resolution setting 1400 x 1050
The one on my right, has XGA running at resolution setting 1024 x 768
The size of the desktop icons on the left, appear to be same as the ones on the right.
When I change the resolution setting of the T61 on my left to 1024 x 768, the size of its desktop icons on my left become larger than the ones on my right. (Both are running at 1024 x 768)
Is the greatest benefit of SXGA+, in having the ability to choose...
a. 1400 x 1050
b. 1280 x 1024
c. 1280 x 800
d. 1280 x 768
e. 1280 x 720
f. 1024 x 768

Now I see why I was confused...
[Control Panel][Appearance and Personalization][Display] screen.
The Windows 7 install default for SXGA+ is "(o) Medium - 125% (default)
The Windows 7 install default for XGA is "(o) Smaller - 100% (default)
In other words...
The SXGA+ T61 on my left was running at 125% magnification.
The XGA T61 on my right was running at 100% or no magnification.
Now that I've reset my SXGA+ machine to 100%, both machines match now.
