T60 display crash with Flash video

I have a T60 running Windows XP SP3 and with fully-updated versions of Firefox and Flash. There is a persistent problem when attempting to run some Flash video streams that causes the display to blank - go black. I don't think the whole machine has crashed as the network traffic indicator is still flashing indicating continued download activity. However, I can only appear to get out of it by forcing a re-boot. Usually then the site runs OK when I go back to it.

Is there anything obvious that I can look for to solve this?

Phil

I was seeing a similar issue with my T60p running Windows 7, and concluded it was related to my specific version of Flash. When I first noticed the issue I had recently updated to flash version 11.5.502.135, and after reverting back to the prior version 11.5.502.110 the problem did go away. But because of security concerns I did recently update to 11.7.700.224 and I have not seen the issue reappear. So my advice would be to experiment with other versions of flash.

For my issue the video would just freeze at a certain point and I would need to force a shutdown with the power button.

Here are old versions:

You'll have to uninstall your current version first. And be aware that older versions may have serious security holes. While I was running an old version I had a Flash blocker plugin installed in Firefox so that Flash wouldn't execute on a site until I allowed it. If you only allow reputable sites like Youtube and Vimeo to execute Flash you'll probably be fine.
