Revive a T60p

#1 Post by wackyD » Tue Jul 16, 2013 10:10 am

Morning East cost folks and good day to places west and east,

I do what I can to support a mission group in Honduras, including trying to support their IT needs.

I just got a T60p back from them that was working well a few months ago and now is dead.

No status lights flash, no beep codes with ram removed, but the network lights come on (for a half second) and the cd drive is operable when power is depressed (meaning it ejects).

I initially assumed motherboard failure due to misuse, but thought I would post here to see if there are any thoughts of fixing it.

Any ideas?

If I need it, I would probably go to the market for an intel graphics T60 MB or whatever I can find the cheapest. It has good plastics and the screen doesn't appear damaged (though not lit).

Thanks!

It does sound like the board failed since it's getting power and you can't get any beep codes by removing ram. The first thing I'd suspect is a liquid spill, or it could have just been it's time to check out. I have a couple T60 and T60p boards starting at $39 for x1300 ATI to $59 for v5200 FireGL. I don't have any Intel boards, but you might check with ajkula66 or RealBlackStuff.
