I just bought a new T60 and will be using the recovery discs to bring back an image onto the hard drive.
Once that is done, can I use an RnR imgage from another T60 onto this one.
The other t60 has just a base install with windows updates already applies so that I don't have to install that stuff over and over again.
The hardware is pretty similar.
I just can't remember if using the repair and recovery cd's that Microsoft will ask for the Product Liscense Key.
I don't remember.
Is what I want to do possible. Will the imiage's liscense key be in conflict on two computers, or was there a product liscence key in the first place, but instead a general install liscense?

Re: Using Repair and Recovery image from one T60 to another.
Don't know how it is for XP/Vista (I guess the machine comes with either of those) and I don't have any around right now to check, but at least on Win7 you can - and if need be - always change the license by going to Computer => Properties => Change product key.
If it works I can't really come up with any reasons why you shouldn't be able to just shortcut the whole process and clone the system image from computer A to computer B in one go and without bothering with the recovery disks. Please note that I'm however not necessarily tech savvy enough to say for sure.

Re: Using Repair and Recovery image from one T60 to another.
The Lenovo recovery CDs do not require a product key to be input for activation of windows (any version). Use the recovery CDs and update the system using Lenovo's thinkvantage update software, or just use the R&R disks from anothet T60. Personally, I prefer a clear recovery CD install.
