Hello Everybody,

this is my first post on this forum, so I would like to say warm hello :-)

I am owner of Lenovo Thinkpad T61 model 6460-EDG with CPU T9300. Right know I have on my notebook windows 7 ultimate 32bit but I want to change it to 64bit (because of installed 4gb ram memory).

I want to buy SSD drive (for example Kingston V300 120GB). My question is, what should I do to get as high perfomance as it's possible? I read some posts about upgrade'ing bios (middleton version?) to get SATA II support. Could you help me with that and explain what should I do to prevent damaging my notebook ? I checked my BIOS version and I have right now on board 2.27 (7LETC7WW).

I will be grateful for yours help

Thank you!

Mike

Hello Mike, welcome to the forum.

The BIOS upgrade is fairly straightforward, countless people have already performed it successfully. Here is the official link:

In the BIOS settings make use you are using native SATA and not emulation mode. You might have to reinstall Windows after making the change.

Investigate whether the producer of your SSD advises to perform partition alignment.

Make some tests using freely available tools. If the speed is aligned with the average of the other users, your set-up is right.

Bye,
Enos
