Adding parallel printer to T60 Mini Dock

I want to add a parallel printer to my mini dock for my T60, but it doesn't seem to auto recognize. If I have to configure the printer manually, how do I do it?
Do I have to pick a different port?
I've power cycled already, but it still doesn't want to work.....

You should be able to install the printer to LPT1. The particulars depend on the printer and the OS. Being a printer with a parallel interface, guessing it's pretty old and many old printers lack drivers/support in Windows 7/8, so that may be a challenge to get the right driver.

I'm running xp so the drivers aren't the problem.
I did try to install to LPT1, but it didn't work. I'll try to install the printer again without the dock and then see if the dock is a true passthrough for the port.
Thanks

Make sure that the Parallel port AND the Legacy ports on the mini-dock are not disabled in the BIOS...

I didn't make any changes to the hardware, but the one thing I did was remove the a/b printer connector I was using as an extension cord to the printer. Once I removed the splitter/joiner it printed fine.

The dock is more than just a passthrough. Both it and the "Serial/Parallel Port Bay Adapter" contain a SuperIO chip (plus an RS-232 driver for the serial port.)
